I was given a AG about a year ago from my brother in-law when he flew on to his shoulder.
I never had a bird before but he couldn't take care of him.
So thats when Smokie enter our family and I must tell you he is the best pet
we ever had. At first I was a little afraid to handle him or her but that changed quickly.
Smokie is now part of our family and Me and my 3 girls love him.
He is so playful and vocal and now is starting to talk a little, but i don't no if he is a boy
or a girl.
So anyone out there can tell me that would be great.
PS i lv this forum and i learned alot from this web site please keep up the good work

There is a site called African Queen that shows you how to tell the difference with the CAG's I will try and find the link.

The only way to tell for sure is with a DNA test. It is really easy and only cost about $20.00

Welcome, and a DNA test really is the only way to be totally sure.

We got Harrison when SHE was 3 months old. The breeder was positive she was MALE. She said that Harrison's eye and head shape/size indicated that she was for sure a male. She also said that Harrison's two clutch mates were female. We named our little bundle of joy as if she were a he and carried on. A little later, we were a little unsure if we actually had a male so we had the DNA test done...and TA-DAAAAA...he's a she!! She already knew her name so we just decided to leave it.

It's kinda funny because I actually wanted a female before we got to the breeder. But, this 'male' picked us so we went ahead and got the 'male' that ended up being a female...confusing? yeah!! lol

The birdstore owner where we got Gonzo was also convinced the she was a he. Well, we named her thinking she was a he, and now we've got a female "Gonzo". Whatever, it suits her. I couldn't think of any better name for my princess :P
