Hi all:
I am new to posting but have been reading the forum since for a while. I have a meyers, red belly and a 5 month old CAG, Griffin. I have a home office so all 3 birds have their own table/floor perches in the office. They spend the day with me. On weekends I bring the perches outside. Living in Southern CA I realize I'm sharing the space with eagles/hawks etc. I know that some people don't bring theri birds outside at alll for fear of them being killed by predators, but I kind of split the difference and keep them under close supervision. I place the perches under a picnic table umbrella. Does anyone have the perfect outdoor solution. My CAG does not like to be in her cage if I can help it. Thought about an aviary, but it's still a cage. Perhaps someone could build a perch with an umbrella top. |

Hi there, and welcome to the forum. I only recently joined myself, so I am no expert, but I have a solution that is working quite well for my Pionus (who I obtained just weaned from the breeder). While she was still young, I started her with a flight suit, that is made of a very light material, and is closed along her back with velcro. It has a leash, that velcros to the back as well, and I can take Ms. Pickles every where with me- store, park, car, outside chores, etc. I suspect I may never be able to train by CAG to a flight suit as he is new to our flock, having recently obtained him at age 7yrs old. Anyhow, since your CAG is so young, he may take to the flight suit if it means he can go out with you where ever you go. Just a suggestion.. and again, welcome!
