Well I made a stand for Lexi for under$60. I used a 4 ft piece of cedar post and drilled several holes thru it. I cut a few pieces of dowelling( the same size as the perches in her cage) and inserted them thru..securing them with a screw in each.I bought 4 small stainless steel dishes and attatched 2 of them onto the top of the post. The other 2 sit in the attached ones for food and water. The post is fastened to a 2 foot by 2 foot piece of plywood using a post holder. The plywood is covered with a mactack for easy cleanup.I have a dowel dtilled onto the top with a toy hanging from it. I will try to post a picture tonight so you can see what Im talking about. Oh and Lexi loves it....

The book "Parrot Toys and Play Areas" has some great ideas. I used one of their plans to make a gym for Arthur before he came home. Bit of adjustment as we don't seem to be able to get the PVC cross joiners here. Well he freaked out over it but Coco (BE2) had a great time destroying it. Turns out I didn't do a terribly good job of securing the pipe into the joins. Ah well the PVC has since been used for holding browse in the aviaries.

Why am I babbling? Just to let you know what could go wrong. Make sure all joints are secure and be prepared April may decide she doesn't like it.

Im thinking about to build me one too. Im thinking just but a untreated 4by4 and make it stand up and buy some circle wood i forgot what it call but its big enough for the parrot to stand. Its circle like a perch. and drill a hole through the 4by4 and take the circle wood put them through. Do a couple of those for them to stand.

Thanks for sharing. One observation: You may want to remove the twine wrapped around the branches etc. My experience with both store-bought and homemade toys is twine can be dangerous for parrots. They luv to pull it apart and can loosen it to point that there is enough space for a foot to go through and get caught and entangled. This has happened to both our Grey and Amazon. Fortunately we were at home both times to untangle our very unhappy parrots.

as far as the 4x4 it can only be UNTREATED wood. most fencing material has been treated to withstand the elements.
