Perch Diameter? How big is too big?

I just purchased some real wood perches online from a guy that custom cuts them and told him the length I needed and that it was for an african grey. He got the length right, but the brnach itself is like 1 1/2 inches in diameter. It seems huge. What diameter is too big, or too small Thanks

I like to use perchs of different thicknes and with the largest where the toes wrap about half way around.
