Holy smokes..I have never heard a full tilt growl yet. Luna growls, but very low and quiet. That bird surely was telling that squirrel he meant business.

That squirrel video is priceless! I'm surprised the bird didn't bite the guy in trying to "protect" him.

That squirrel growler could be Bing. That's exactly what he does. Luckily it has never been directed at me!

you know I don't think I've heard Rio growl...I mean other then the kitty cat growl she does. I'll try to get it on video so you guys can hear it. its kind of adorable...but surely I've never heard any unpleasent sounds from her...well except that high pitch ring she does so wonderfully when I'm taking to long to get her the food she's waiting for.

Cool

I know that growl...

My Rebel was a wild caught bird I obtained back in 1985 when these were still available. So when he came home he was not thrilled about being there and he did not like hands or towels.

I spent the next 4 months working with him to tame him and get him to calm down. I heard him do this a lot. After being very slow and patient and not reacting to bites he did calm down and he stopped making the growl noise. He has been my little buddy since then.

Ironically he is now the calm friendly bird in our house. He will allow most people to handle him or give him a treat. My Cockatoo who was a rescue was abused by a women. So he will go after any women he can so none are allowed to be around him when he is out. He was a domestically hand raised bird. He also make Rebel seem like a quite bird.

The only time I hear it now is when we go to our vet who uses a towel to hold him when doing wings/claws/beak and checking him only. He never did get over the towel.

Rebel is a very good looking grey. He doesn't look a day past 15.

Wow....I've never heard the 'grey growl' quite like that before. Thanks for all the videos! It was certainly a learning experience.
