It sounds like she's well on her way. Do you like the Pretty Bird pellets? My birds always smelled weird to me when I used them, so I stopped.

Default I thought I wasd alone!

Hello everybody!
My little Jibber likes to shred/bite his chest feathers off. I couldn't figure out what was going on until this last winter. We had moved into a home with forced air heat and boy did the house get dry.....including Jibber's skin! So, he was itchy and would shred his feathers. I started giving him a bath every other day and his feathers greatly improved! Now though, being that spring is upon us he's back to shreding his feathers. I realize this is more of a hormonal thing. I try not to make a big deal of his bald and fuzzy chest-he's still a very handsome birdie to me and I tell him that every day! I read somewhere that the best thing you can do with a plucker is to not show much emotion about the situation and just realize that your baby is beautiful/handsome the way they are

When I took my CAG to the birdie spa they said he was a feather picker. He probably did not get alot of attention at his previous home.

He still have the fluffiness on his chest. But no nudist.

My U2 I got him 10 years ago and his chest was a nudist. One part grew back but the other part never did. He doesn't feather pick but I got he mutilated himself so bad before I got him that feathers can't grow there anymore.

My one quaker doesn't seem to be a feather picker but when I brought Taboo home her back and her chest got all fluffies on it. It could be she is molting.

Rammie doesn't touch any of his feathers. Max plucks in small area under each wings. You can see it only when he streches his wings. Our resident plucker in my house is our male lovebird Petie. He came to us this way fours years ago. He first lived at an Alzheimer outpatient center with his mate. He was taken care of so well by nurses there. The patients kept forgetting him.

When his mate died, he started plucking. The nurses took him to the vet who prescribed prozac for him. One of the nurse felt so bad for him that she took him home with her. After six months, with no improvements, she contacted me as she knew I was looking for a male since I had lost Blu (another lovebird) about 4 months earlier.

Within 10 minutes of meeting Petie, our little yellow lovebird Pheobe started building a nest. She has been in love since them even though Petie continues plucking himself. We currently have him on Bach's rescue remedy to see if that could help him. I've heard of one Grey who stopped plucking with that Remedy (1 drop on a piece of toast every day) so I thought it might be worth a shot

Taboo has this one spot on his back that he picks at and also under his shin he has fluffies that I assume is from picking and plucking. His legs has fluffies also.

He was probably left alone a lot with his previous owner.

I have changed his diet and increased his out time. More toys. LOTS of love. I am hoping he stops it at some point.

I hear habits are hard to break.

If he is out with me and I catch him doing it I will tell him. "No No don't do that" And he will come back with a comment. "Bite me" After that I will tweak his beak and say. "Got your nose." and that will divert his attention.

It is amazing how they will answer you with something funny. lol.

My Lucy is a nudist and handicapped. Since she is between 10 and 20 yo and we have little info on her background, we have no clue as to how long she has been at it. My Vet said that her follicles are too damaged for her to grow them back. We don't particularly care, since she is a total doll and we love her for who she is and not what she looks like She has actually made friends with our Lovie Jasper
