Default Birdie Mash Made Today

Today is the first time I made the birdie mash here at home. This is my greys main diet so I had two grey helpers aka big piggy's with me as I worked. It took about 4 hrs to do since I didn't have my usual group of friends this time. Echo wanted absolutely everything I was chopping up. Vern just wanted the stuff she was familiar with like apple or melon.

Any way I think they were abit overwhelmed when I was done and let them get a taste of the final product.
Here is a slide show of the greys in overload!!

Wow there's so much! Is that all for your guys? If so, how are you going to store it? I would love to do things like when my grey finally comes home.

Did you cook/steam the veggies, or are they raw? Either way, it looks like they're enjoying it!

I freeze it in sandwich baggies and thaw as needed. It should last me a good 3-4 months and the cost is much less then buying pellets and much better for them.. It took about a month for me to switch them over to it and now they wont eat the pellets anymore. The only things cooked are the beans, macaroni and rice. The yams are slightly steamed and the rest is raw fresh fruits and veggies with some frozen corn, peas, and mixed veggies..

Yummy- Looks good- I make birdie mash for my guys, but the recipe keeps changing depending on what is fresh and/or on sale at the supermarket! Your birds are lucky to have such a good mom..

I just made a big batch myself but I am embarrassed to post pictures of it now. Yours looks so much better.

I like your helpers.

That does look very good. I am now trying to wean Bertie off of the seed mix, as she is a sunflower junkie, on to mostly fruit, veg and roughage. I am adamant that this Parrot is going to be healthier than me.

nope, there is really no way to do it wrong.
more veggies is the best over fruits.
I make something for the shop...it has
chick peas
kidney beans
tri colored pastas
sugar snap peas
corn
peas
carrots
sweet potato
green pepper
red pepper
yellow pepper
Broccoli

the larger things I put though a food processor. I cook the beans seperately then the rest. Its really a base for folks that wish to add anything else to.
I freeze it in 3 day portions.
Its really about me trying to do some education on nutrition. Since opening the store, some folks didnt know birds can eat anything but SEED
