Tonights hand feeding went much better. My wife had the idea to replicate the environment in which we had given her formula when we got her and it worked like a charm. I married a smart woman! Mya's on her favorite perch grinding her beak, and has officially gone 24 hour since the Vet. It's been a scary 24 hours, but I am quite certain that she's going to recover just fine. Thanks to all that read and replied. I will post updates until she's recovered.

oh, I am sorry I am just getting on this....I need to have posts like this somehow alert me.........
I would definitly look into the chains, any rope and or bars on the cage if they are welded, bent, or how they are all attached.
If she damaged it by the quick, like our fingernails, it may not grow back. BUT she can do just fine without a few. I have had several with bad feet/legs/toes.
I'm glad she's eating a bit better. is she on antibiotics? if shes on the, is she on antifungals? antifungals can make her loose her appetite, but that something you want to tell the vet.
if she's your only baby, you may wish to get VPI for catistrophic issues.
I have it on Emma. Its paid off already. I will be getting it for Sydney too.
Its 14.99 a month. that is NOT well birdy visits, just emergencies.

keep us updated, and hope she's back to herself real soon!

Lisa, thanks for checking in. Right now she's on anitbiotics and pain medication, both of which seem to be helping. I will ask the vet about the VPI on Monday when we go see her again. We were able to get her to drink some pedialite after some hesitation, and she's being very cuddly. I was giving her rubs while she layed on my chest pretty much all night. She's also perching on both feet so I think at least some of the discomfort has dissapated.

I changed out her gauze wrappings yesterday. What an ordeal! The wound looks like it's healing fantastically, but it was the biggest pain in the *** to put a new bandage on. She bit my wife through the towel a few times and it took me the better part of 40 minutes to put a new one on. She can clamp down with her feet! I was so frustrated, but we got it done and she'll be good for a couple of more days.

That must be it

I'm very relieved that she's feeling better, though I'm still having to hand feed her a bit everyday. Makes it easier to hide the medication!

yep...and i suggest when the meds are done, you continue to offer juices and such from time to time in a syringe so she doesnt always think there is nasty stuff coming out of the end of it. some meds can be mixed with juice and they cant tell the difference.

note to everyone: you have to check with your vet to see if the meds can be mixed.

We made sure that those two meds were fine together. I'm only using about 10mL of baby formula with her meds now that she's eating and drinking. I just put a bit of pedialite in her water dish and she seemed to like it. She was her normal super cuddly self tonight, and she's in her cage grinding her beak getting ready for bed. Call me strange, but there's no better sound in the world!
